Version to use for BC LCFS was created by tmathieu
Hi,
What version of GHGenius must be used to generate credits under the BC LCFS ? The pathway is : Capture landfill biogas - Upgrade it into newable natural gas - Liquefy the RNG - Transport the RNG to the off-taker - Use it in ferries.
Is version 4.03c ok or should version 5.01 be used ?
Thanks !

BC Currently uses version 4.03. However for 2023 they will be switching to version 5.02. which is not yet publicly available.
For projects in 2023, version 5.01 will give better results than 4.03.

There have been a few peer reviewed papers published that have compared the results of some pathways in the different models. Some of them are
www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1364032119302552
www.mdpi.com/2071-1050/13/18/10371
www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0306261918316581
crcao.org/reports/recentstudies2018/E-10...ort_March%202018.pdf
The results for a specific pathway are dependent on the pathway inputs, many of which are left up to the individual user and others are based on the available data. Sometimes the data is limited, which can impact the results that the model will calculate.
GHGenius is used in Government Regulations in BC, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.
