Biogenic credit & biodiesel ccs was created by zixliu
Dear team,

I am conducting an LCA for the GHG emissions of canola-produced biodiesel with the end use for vessels.

Noticed that in GHGenius, the biogenic credit is calculated in the downstream analysis, which does not specifically focus on vessels. Wondering if there is any column or method to calculate the biogenic credit in the upstream part?

Also does GHGenius consider the CCS for biodiesel production? I compared the results with and without selecting CCS for fuel production and found that the results are the same.

Thanks!

GHGenius does include a credit for soil carbon sequestration for those crops and production regions that are building soil carbon. This part of the emissions that show up n the land management line on the results sheets.

The net biogenic credit for crop production would be the sum of the SOC emissions and the biogenic credit from combustion. If you use this approach then you can't also claim the biogenic credit for the combustion. This is not the typical way that biofuel results are presented.

We do not have a CCS option in the model for biodiesel. The amount of CO2 generated in the production process and the scale of BD plants is so low that CCS is unlikely to be an economic option so we haven't added it to the model.
