I am a new learner to use GHGenius. I followed the instruction for 403a which is available on B.C website. with the same set data for corn ethanol, 502b generated much better (lower) CI than 403a. I found the feedstock recovery and the land management emissions are lower in 502b than 403a.is it correct?
403a uses IPCC 2007 GWP, do you know what is the recommended IPCC value for 502b in B.C pls?
In addition, does the land management emissions in Upstream HHV sheet mean iLUC pls? what is the iLUC for corn grown in US central pls?
Thanks for your time.

Yes, the feedstock recovery emissions are lower in 5.02. This is a function of higher corn yields , newer data, and a small change in the way that forecasted future energy use is done.
The land management emissions are also slightly lower.
The BC LCFS now uses the GWP from AR5 (2013). This is the default value in 5.02 and it impacts the land management emissions due to the lower N2O EF.
There are no iluc emissions for corn when the default settings are used.
Regards
Don O'Connor.

Hi Don,
thanks so much for your quick reply.
May I know what does the default setting refer to pls? is it the IPCC GWP 2013 value? In US, CA greet model has iLUC for Corn at 19.8.
In B.C and GHGenius, does the corn have no iLUC penalty if using above default IPCC value? in what condition, the iLUC will be considered in GHG enius and BC LCFS pls?
in addition, our case is corn growing and ethanol production are both in US, and ethanol consumption is in BC, any iLUC for corn will need to be considered in this case pls?
Thanks for your time

As you download the model the default setting is to use the GWP from the IPCC 5th Assessment Report.
There is no ILUC in the BC LCFS program or in the federal CFR.
The double counting refers to the ethanol transportation. Row 91 on the Input sheet requires a yes or no value if there is transloading. If the ethanol is loaded directly to a rail car at the plant and unloaded from the rail car in BC, then the input should be no.
