waste steam on Ethanol production was created by PINGLIUSHELL
Hi Don,
I hope you are doing well. Our plant plans to import low-grade waste heat from a nearby power plant with a combustion turbine. the waste steam was generated from the heat recovery of hot exhuast gases of the power plant. Could you please clarify how the carbon intensity of this type of steam will be treated under the BC Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS)? will it be considered a byproduct of the power plant and thus have zero emissions? If not, which allocation methods and approaches should be used to account for the steam emissions under GHGenius? In another case, the waste steam could be from the low-pressure steam of the power plant with steam turbine. will that make any difference on the carbon intensity from the above one pls?
Thanks for your time and Looking forward to your reply!

Since your question relates to the BC LCFS program you should direct your question to them as I can't speak for them.

Hi Don,
Thanks for your quick reply! we will reach out to BC LCFS for this question.
Additionally, I noticed a question in this forum about 'Displacement Allocation for Steam.' Could you explain the scenarios in which this would be applicable?

Thanks a lot!

Hydrogen producers often export steam as a co-product so steam was added to the model at their request.
