In the model we do not include LFG flaring emissions for this pathway nor do we include avoided landfill gas emissions.
The reason for the later is that some degree of control is generally required for landfill gases and regulators do not recognize the reductions, even though no control system gets close to 100% capture.
If we are not going to recognize the avoided emissions it is hard to justify LFG flaring emissions. These emissions would exist in both the LFG to RNG system and in the reference system where, in the best case, the LFG would be flared. So they are excluded from the model.
